Well isn't this a curious little corner of the web I've stumbled into.

Happy 2019 everyone!

So I'm procrastinating on my reading and I've posted this link on facebook already but I thought the dead fox crowd would like it too. It's a documentary about math called "Dangerous Knowledge." Who knew?

Perhaps we can make the dead fox run again! Since I last posted... perhaps now years ago, many new things have happened.

This is my second week living in London, England where it's reliably dreary and rainy. The city is a tangle of streets that change names without notification and weave into each other without warning. I can't count how many times I've gone in the opposite direction thinking I was certainly going the right way. The practice of losing one's way can be very enjoyable if one doesn't have a specific destination. But such is certainly not the case for me. You see, I've started my PhD. It's a fairly risky undertaking because if I don't succeed in getting additional funding next year, my degree might reach its premature conclusion this summer. In the mean time I'm trying to make it to class on time, find grocery stores, cheap shops, banks, etc. etc. etc.. All the little minor details that sometimes become frustratingly impossible because of the city's opacity.

If I do manage to get more funding, I will eventually wind up with a degree in Humanities and Cultural Studies--an interdiscplinary degree run by Birkbeck College, Tate, Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Science Museum and the Architectural Assocation. The wonderful part of this program is that I'll have the privilege of working with some very powerful and amazing institutions. The downside is that I'll have the challenge of working with institutions that work to canonize sooner than necessarily challenge or subvert. There's always a staidness to monolithic government subsidized culture. Right now I have no clue what I'll be doing within any of those places but I think that will sort itself out.

Oh and what else. My mom got married, I now like dogs (I used to be rather afraid of them except for carpet dog), I still can't drive and I will be in Poland over Christmas so if there's something you want--like moonshine and pickles--let me know!

So I guess the dead Fox is dead. Seems a fair bit had changed and yet stayed the same. For me when we started this I had just finished off school was looking for a job and gotten one in the Western Canadian oil patch. Been working the patch in the field for three & a half yrs now. And sadly that's all it's been. So since no one reads this damn blog anymore I think I may take it over and reflect back on these past 3 years. Probably won't take long, just 1 or 2 posts. What's sad is that over the last 3 yrs I can probably be given a date and could tell you where I was and what I was most likely doing. The answer for most working. Or maybe the laziness and lack of motivation that consumes me now will begin to take over this plan as well. Hopefully it doesn't take over my plan of quitting and getting out of the field. I guess time will tell. & Bro blames the flu but aren't we all to blame?

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

As the days, weeks and months roll by, I see the landscape of our blog remain unchanged. Be it through other means of communication, or through sheer apathy, this has become obsolete.

For this, we need only blame one person: The Flu.

that is all.

Hello those of you in bloggerland. We never write on here anymore and never check it to see if anyone has written anything.

All I can say to this is "Starch!"

Thursday, December 13, 2007

Hey guys! I'm back! I know it's been a long time since I posted to the blog, but I've got a TON of new stuff to talk about and...um...hello?

Oh...the blog is dead. Shit.

I can't wait.

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Oh, how fitting that the long-lingering last post is an anniversary celebration, when the blog is mostly dead. I shed a tear for the dead fox blog, it has served us well.

Star Wars displays.
In other news, I depart for Santa Clara, California tomorrow. Strangely however, by moving to California I am actually much much further from a beach than I am now. Oh well.

Rally J

Monday, May 14, 2007

So if you're in the area.... feel free to drop by. If you're in Calgary between June 15th and July 27th... drop by the Nickel Art Centre. I have a few works in that show. And if you are in Toronto September 3rd - 7th, drop by the Gales Gallery... I will have work there as well.... And if you're in none of those places.... well rest assured, neither will I be (except for my graduating show, that is).

So everyone -just wanted to pass along the address of Tom's music - I recommend listening to "Three Chords Cello", and "Blue Suede Blues".
Cheers to our boy in Hamilton!

So much for the whole "Meat is murder" campaign.

Why do so many people lack common sense? Seriously. I understand you have a certain lifestyle but if it puts others at danger, especially people who depend on you for everything, you may have to sacrifice things.

Don't mind me, I am just in a sour mood. Must be these jolly ranchers.

I think Facebook has killed our Blog.

I'm done.

Take THAT education system... I beat ya!

The end boss was hard.

It's that time again.

When the number of posts/replies dwindle in this forum, I feel the need to spice things up by pitting two forces against each other.

An Easter Monday favour....

So for all you non-Polish people, I have a favour to ask. I won't be spending Easter Monday with my family and for all of you who will be, I ask you to follow a long revered Polish tradition in my stead. It's called Smingus Dyngus (pronounced Shmeengoos Dingoos). On Easter Monday, the whole point is to drench family members, friends... and well, anyone... with water! Especially important is to get up before other people in the househould, sneak into their bedrooms, and pour water over their heads so that they wake up in a mad panic. If you don't believe me here is the website.

My father used to wake my up that way. But I got smart. Eventually however, my enthusiasm for the holiday would get me in trouble....

From the "I still love the internet" department comes this exciting clip:
Sapidah Man!

Thursday, March 08, 2007

What What - I'm back - my neck's a little sore and in need of a good solid rub and squeeze, er, tug, no really though, a massage would be perfect right about now. Just a little bit of stress at work - had our yearly visit from the food police, and after a little behavioral incident from someone I work with - while they interacted with the inspector, well yeah, he didn't take too kindly to that, he's just doing his job anyways making sure we're all staying clean and safe - which I am 100 percent in support of - remember how often I'll tell you a story of some of our kitchen hi-jinks and, and finish it by saying, "and then we washed our hands" - so yeah, you understand, I care, the inspector cares, and at the end of the day, we were all lovey dovey and falling all over each other and telling each other how we appreciate the effort the other is putting in - no one wants to make a customer sick you know, or create or allow for a scenario where something unhealthy could occur.... I mean, just ask Mr Lister, those burritos did not sit right, not by any means - you know why? Well, good chance there could have been something in the water - Montezuma's Revenge and all. But really - here's what I wanted to bring to everyone's attention... I stumbled across this article, and it is funny, because it talks about a process/act that I have been seeing more and more evidence of out there on the net, even to the point of overhearing about these kind of things from the youngsters I work with - so it is certainly a phenomenon which I am aware of. And in some ways I laud the French government for being so progressive and trying to curb this sort of fad, or behaviour before it becomes the norm, or as the French themselves might say, de riguer. I just hope that yes, they do not become a rigid controlling government - really, who wants to live in Brazil? - well, I would, if only to meet DeNiro as Harry Tuttle, but that's another fairy tale for another bedtime. Any response / reaction from you my peers?

Speaking of incest....

We are always told about the evils of incest / drinking while pregnant or, oh, I dunno, .... shining shoes and now I have seen the proof with my own eyes.

By the by, it's not anywhere near safe for work/home/universe/this or any other dimension.

So after uncover the secret of Darmok - let me fill you in on a few other treats()

Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.

Ok ok, so here we go again, round two of the things which people say or do which make me mad for the world and the people of it.

Monday, March 05, 2007

OK. So. Here's a little something which I just don't get.

Tuesday, February 27, 2007

So...

I am two months away from graduation. Now being as old as I am it may seem like this is a hint that I should grow up.

Nothin' doin.

I WILL however have to get a "grown up" job.

I've been looking around Winnipeg and it seems like it's a dry market for someone with two bachelor degrees in ridiculously different subjects. What is a person to do?

Basically, I want to use my B.Env.D. in the City Planning stream and use my B.C.Sc as a suppliment to it, rather than a main focus. Now that may not make too much sense, so lemme put it this way.

"I wanna use a computer to do planning work, I do not want to be the IT guy in a planning office".

I'm still looking around Winnipeg, but I may have to look elsewhere. Basically, I've been told that I can get a job in Calgary as some sort of planning troll, since a classmate's mother works in the planning office there. Now I have to ask... do I want to go to Calgary?

Meh, I have no idea why I'm whining on the blog, this is supposed to be a place where we all come together and catch up. So, pretend this is me just telling you what is up for now. I'll get back to posting lame youtube videos in the near future.

ps: remind me to start writing papers earlier in the night.

Why, hello there.

So if you haven't noticed, you will now. We gots a new member! (see below)

Siamese Dream.

So we either gots a cat that dreams in blog posts or an ancient pre-thailand person.
And by ancient, I mean before 1939 or between 1945 - 1949.
Either way, attention will be craved, so if you play your cards right, you might get a treat (wink wink)
Aha, old people. (they talk a lot in lucid rambles)

Ok. I don't know what i'm going on about but I shall continue my rambling diatribe.

You'll notice above that the useless clocks are gone.
Good riddance I say!
Also, if you haven't done so already, you'll have to switch your blogger account over to a Google Account to post on the blog.
I was holding off on switching myself, but I have been forced to now and as admin, that forces you all to do so as well.

Suckas!

It's simple tho. You just sign in and follow the directions and then, tada!
I've been wanting to switch stuff up on the page, so any suggestions or ideas for the site can go in the comments. (colour scheme, etc)

If you haven't been to the King's Head to eat some grub yet, you really should go. They even got new tables and new cushions on the chairs!
And boy, that Khanuja burger is wicked. (As is the roti)

Let's see.... anything else......?
Ah yes.

Happy Chinese New Year!

What you guys do to celebrate the occasion?

Also.... Columbine...

Who's read this?

http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,72491-0.html

Internet Impressions.

Since I've killed the blog (already ailing) with my last post, it is my duty to revive it. But at the same time I have so very little to say, or at least nothing I want to mention at this point. So instead I'll talk about my new virtual fear, anxiety and object of loathing.

Facebook...

Yes, it's me being me again. I never grew out of my high school pessimism, it's in my character. However this high schoolness of which I speak has come flooding back as people ask to be my virtual friends over this virtual album that is, all in all, so heart-warming and such a good idea! You can keep in touch with anyone! What it brings to the forefront, however, is life's clinging irrelevance and the subsequent contingency of the relation of individuals to myself.

Anyway... it's not like I don't find a source of pleasure in seeing what old familiar faces are doing. It's just the shock treatment that comes from seeing these faces. It's the unfamiliar lives they lead, the complete separation. It's no longer removed by being heard from a friend of a friend. We don't actually have to talk to friends.

So.... I kind of changed settings, pressed buttons. I think I may have send out a lot of invitations to people I really don't need to send out invitations too. I was horrified. I was panicked. I logged off. I told people I went to bible camp with them. I claimed to be some woman's parent. I realized, this place is not for me....

All those impressions being made I'm leaving a post of another grad's art project. She made smocks for us and took pictures of us in our studios.... an institutional commentary. You'll get a sense of our insulated captivity.

Where is butt fuck BC?

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Well well well,
seems like We all (Canada) has become the Oil Dealer to the States... That's all good, I mean, the money is great, the bling it affords keeps the Albertans getting 'government' rebate cheques, ie 'hush money', and heck, those equalization payments don't hurt either....
'cept... well, now they want more... You see there old hookup, was a real good sweet dealer for them - hell, they lived in a warm sunny place, we never had to visit them much, they always delivered(!), and heck, we were able to get the good quality shot at a good price... Well, lately, our old dealer's hood has gotten a little rough and tumble, and well, some of his homeboys have been trying to step up and are fronting on a regular basis, and shit, that oils just don't flow for the same price no more.... Well, lookee lookee, there be a new dealer on the block, and he delivers, has a good product at a nice price, and well, we've always gotten along pretty well, hell, they live just next door in fact... Problem is though, the new hook-ups production system isn't so efficient, things don't run as smoothly, and, they grow-op/lab just isn't up and running at capacity - and the scary thing is, the new dealer don't mind that so much, he's just been kinda doing it for fun, but now that they see that they can maybe make a ton of coin real quick, the new guy might try to invest a little in a better lighting system, heck, maybe even go hydroponic! Ok, sounds great - pause - not! What happens if this new dealer finds out that with the increased production we have to deal with a whole new host of problems? Our air is getting hotter and dirtier, the rest of the world is looking at us like we're the ones littering in front of Fred Penner's Treehouse, plus, well, our biggest customer lives right next store and is literally the BIGGEST kid on the block - so, what happens if we try to tell our new 'buddy' - "Hey man, I kinda like the amount that I've been producing, it works for me, and I'm happy not expanding my system, I like it organised the way it is now... What happens then? I can imagine what happens when someone stops selling crack to all his clients, suddenly, and without a reason they can empathise with - what happens if the oil doesn't flow so fast to the U.S.?
