So, now that I have access to a computer I will now bore you all with my military stuff.. bahahaha!
My squadron had a training weekend this weekend and I did a few new things. Fired a browning 9mm aswell as the C7 again(old hat by now), and took a look at the Carl G anti-tank rifle and C9. More importantly we learned the basics of clearing a building in urban warfare. One of the most fun and cool things to do as long as you're really not in urban combat. We took PW's (hehe, our Section commanders) and roughed them up a bit. It was a blast.
I must admit, I kind of dig the Army side, gives me such a wonderfully false sense of machismo. But when I finally do my Navy training, I know I'll love it too. Just chillin' drinking rum, gettin' fat and lazy, no one yelling at me... it's going to be sweet. Well there's your daily dose of DND (oh yeah alliteration, I'm getting an 80 in English Lit you know!).

"he doesn’t suffer from overt cutesiness. I also found myself fascinated in who did his stunts. Did he do his own work? Are there child stunt actors? Or did they hire amazingly acrobatic midgets?"
Reading reviews can be fun!

Okay guys, now here's a guy that Captain Planet can really get down to. Yo. His name's Police Ice and he is a dope fershizzle. Word. And he's got a "bag of tricks". Creepy.

Check out these hot tracks. Or check him out in action.

'Cause when your under 21 its your game take the ball! Save yo face!

They had a demo at SIGGRAPH this year in the emerging technologies section where they put some electrodes or something on you, and could remote-control you. ie. If you're walking straight it causes you to veer left or right. One of the guys at work tried it, said it was pretty cool. I only saw a video, where they suggested one application was for pedestrian safety, where a guy was obliviously walking down the middle of a street with headphones on when a car headed towards him. Because of sensors in the car and the human remote control thing, the pedestrian suddenly swerved left off the road. Stranger than fiction, and funnier to watch too.
It made Slashdot now anyhow, so it must be blogworthy.

Here's a link I found funny, brought to my attention by the always relevant Google News. Harness iPod's dollar power -- porn on the go
Best quote: "Do not dare suggest that men will balk at watching hot sex on such a tiny display. It has been proved over 5 million years of intensive study that men can become aroused at sexual images the size of a speck of dust from 50 feet away."
Yeah, pretty much.

Man, Sarah Silverman is great.

Broken Lizard is back. Finally.

Kit Ro made a lovely deer head thingy out of butter once.
This guy had more time on his hands me thinks.

I found this today, and thought it was interesting:
How to live in a simulation.
It's a logical extension of a paper here relating to life being a simulation. Originally inspired by movies like The Matrix, apparently.

update:
For those so inclined here's a slide show of my time in IAP.. enjoy

I know it's been a while, and you all probably don't remember me, but that's ok, I'll post anyway. I guess a brief update is in order...
  • Survived basic training
  • Survived FYOP (barely)
  • College life is .. Hard but did well on my first midterm (so far so good)
  • Joined Varsity Fencing.. epee, I love it.
  • Finally have a minute to post

So that's everything in a nutshell. In case you are wondering FYOP (First Year Orientation Program) is RMC's answer to hazing. Too many ritualistic cult like hazing so it was decided that an official hazing program was the solution. FYOP is like ... All the horrible parts of basic training, and then 100 times more difficult. Anyway, it's all in the past now, but I still get PTSD style flash backs every so often...*shiver*

Now that my training is over for the school term, I will be able to post with.. Well, a bit more frequency. I'll do my best.

Side note: Coming to the peg for Christmas, hope I can see you all (who will be there) when I go. If someone decides to have a get together let me know... eventually, I realize it's only October. Also, I hope you all remember what day October 23rd is....

Salaam

So they say that Daniel Craig is the new 007, but until it is officially announced, take it with a grain of salt. Actually don't with the amount of grains involved with this, you'd die.
How, I don't know, you just would.
Unofficial announcements: #1; #2; #3; #4;

You can see him in action in Layer Cake (good movie). He would make a good Bond for Casino Royale me thinks. So does this guy.
Yes Indeed.
On a side note, Matthew Vaughn made a much better gangster film than Guy Ritchie ever will.
It's true, yep.

Warner Brothers is making a biopic of Ian Fleming. (watch the clip to access article)
Ian Fleming is the creator of Bond, James Bond.

007 is based off of Ian Fleming (womanizing romantism) and Sir William Stephenson (the spying)
Sir William Stephenson is the man more widely known as Intrepid.

That's right. James Bond is not only Canadian, he's from Winnipeg.

You can go see a statue in honour of Sir William Stephenson downtown, in Memorial Park and you can check out the library in his name located in Tyndall Park.

OkOk, so I hear it already, CuPu, the Flu, et al. detractors of "Romeo is up late and getting emo and posting again - look out!" Fuggedaboudit. I just watched a touching made for HBO movie, with a surprising pedigree of Hollywood talent - and I'd be interested if anyone else has seen this movie - but I recommend that you all do - it has something to say about doing the right thing, even if it means standing out amongst a crowd to be heard...
It's called, "And the Band Played On"

On the other hand, just to make it clear, and I have to Ms. S.A. and Mr. F.L.U. - I, was the culprit posing as the "Pride of America"... my intent was to pose as the other prankester of this blog, who shall be remained unamed, but simply be alluded to by a mysteriously rythmically accurate and consistant tick tocking sound - and no - this is in no way a reference to Joel Semeniuk - anyways, I posted in a manner which was a little innapropriate - and just a little inflamatory, causing the Army to withdraw her post - sorry to everyone - I'll leave the blog cranking up to the wizened professionals, and try to stick to my usual blubberings...

I wanted to see A History of Violence, but I ended up agreeing to this.
I'm sorry.

Hey! So today I was thinking how much Family Circus sucks, so I googled around a bit and discovered the Comic Curmudgeon. He makes fun of bad comics. I particularly liked this one:

There a goddamn hyperlink are you happy

and this one, solely because it touches on one of my favourite pet peeves, inappropriate use of quotation marks! Yahoo.

And another one you hyperlink lovin' fool.

Later dooodz.

Remeber that pop quiz?
Well here is the trailer and the answer!

After that you should head over with the fox and check out Romeo's Kitchen.

KitRo would love to have you over.

I haven't posted in a while and think that maybe this is the time to do so despite the fact I really have nothing noteworthy to say. Let us simply treat this as reprieve from the flu's devoted postings that make up for all of us slackers.

So the update is as follows:

1. My street has not been fixed. In fact today there was a giant gaping hole between me and the road I needed to take to get to school causing me to be late to a meeting.

2. Yes I have meetings, a stuffy fate I thought I'd never be subjected to. Especially when white men sit around a table and talk about getting "youth culture" into the "institution". I neither feel a part of youth culture nor the institution so I don't know where I fit in. It seems the institution by default.

3. It seems I have a "practice" by default.

4. Evidently young male workers at Rona live a life of seclusion since they appear shocked and utterly confounded when a female asks them anything. They panic, point and stutter and then I find they gave me wrong directions. I also was wearing nothing but a noodle that I threw at myself to see if it was cooked.

5. Old men like to tell me I have "nice wheels". It's a tactless jeer at my recently acquired amputee status.

6. Some MA at a party told me she always liked my hair. She was also drunk. I didn't go home with her though.

7. I cut portions of my hair to re-align my identity with Ontarians. It worked. They're not very bright.

So that's all I have to say about my Ontario experience thus far. And I haven't even made any art....ha! Perhaps my thesis can be an indepth exploration into the existential dilemma of doing absolutely nothing.
