They had a demo at SIGGRAPH this year in the emerging technologies section where they put some electrodes or something on you, and could remote-control you. ie. If you're walking straight it causes you to veer left or right. One of the guys at work tried it, said it was pretty cool. I only saw a video, where they suggested one application was for pedestrian safety, where a guy was obliviously walking down the middle of a street with headphones on when a car headed towards him. Because of sensors in the car and the human remote control thing, the pedestrian suddenly swerved left off the road. Stranger than fiction, and funnier to watch too.
It made Slashdot now anyhow, so it must be blogworthy.

cool, yet creepy.... hmmm, sounds like 'virtual reality' is ever so slightly coming more and more into the realm of possibility of being developed during our lifetimes..... William Gibson probably has a set of these things already...
