Whew! With all this talk about fighting world poverty and cancelling debt, its nice to see that there are people in the world still doing their best to widen the gap between the rich and the poor. Its too bad that Klein had to eat that same sex marriage dealie, but WHAM! at least he's still got the two-tier health care system working for him--oh baby!
How do you make a dead fox run?

Captain Planet, I as the Holder of Heart, commend you on your sniping witticisms, and your lambasting of the sad angry alcoholic we here in the non-'Western' areas of Canada know simply as Ralph Klein... It is a sad day that sees the sun set on socially equal, classless, and fair healthcare. Is this not a classic example of the 'slippery edge of the wedge' arguement?
Instead of using their lucky and random oil wealth to buy themselves political influence, and a two-tiered system - imagine the hope and maturity inspired if they instead funnelled that into helping make a better system for all... How can we, as the rest of Canada, look to address this 'alienation' when they are doing this which just ends up alienating us?
And then we are faced with the bittersweet victory that is same-sex marriage in Alberta... Who are we to tell two mature and consenting adults that what they share is wrong, when they aren't brining physical harm to others by their acts or desires? Shouldn't we be finding ways to encourage the strengthing of relationships, gay or straight? Where have we gone where we would deny love from one to another? Sure, this at first looks good, but leave it to the Alberta government to leave the backdoor of this legislation, wide open, tongue in cheek ov course...
Speaking of gay marriage, I especially liked the comment from some letter to the editor guy in the free press. To paraphrase: {meandering discussion about gay marriage which sets up the fact that he's a Christian with a strong belief in the bible, etc etc etc, thinks gays should be allowed to have some civil union deal, but not necessarily marriage} ... "But remember whose law is predominant over all things." ... {making the logical assumption that everyone has the same beliefs/religion as you, and look out, here comes the kicker} ... "I should add that I have great sympathy for people caught up in a practising homosexual lifestyle, but there is a way out if one should desire that." What a caring and generous fellow! Where do they find these people? Oh, wait, that's right, the conservative party.
Gee Brig, God Loves those Christians the most!... I dunno, but I feel that God would want people to live their lives under their own direction, through the guidance of a few little things he instilled into them called; Conscience, Morals, and Will...
